Body AI alcohol-based fragrance, produced in collaboration with IFF Inc., 500ml, Sealed, Signed

“Fragrance BODY AI was developed in 2017 in collaboration with perfumer Caroline Dumur from International Flavors and Fragrances Inc. The designer responded to the artists’ brief with an idea to create a smell that would respond to the concepts of Marc Augé’s Non-place and Young-girl (in reference to Tiqqun’s text the Preliminary Materials for a Theory of Young-Girl). Working within two blocks linking together body and space / human and architectural body, the artists’ collaborator Dumur describes in her words: The first block used aldehydes and metallic, clean “undefined” raw materials to really give this impression of non-place and the second block the individual in this non-place with a skin, musky and warm smell. A vibrant woody raw material was the link that brought both together (“recovering what we have been separated from, from the very separation itself, regenerating what this separation has poisoned”). The artists define scent as a sculptural solution which helps view space as something other than the containment or protection of subjects, beyond binarization, confining subjectivity and signification.”
