This April, during Milan’s most dynamic cultural moment, Circolo UltraFiorucci is proud to present Lost and Found, an exhibition that transforms personal collections and overlooked everyday objects into a poetic and playful landscape that accompanies the works of five emerging young artists—Guendalina Cerruti, Sara Di Lauro, Motelcecil, Lorenzo Silvestri and Valentina De Zanche—to craft a dialogue between old and new practices, rituals, and obsessions.
Running across Miart and Fuorisalone, and curated by The Community and Milliony Arlekina, Lost and Found offers an intimate and imaginative perspective on Milan’s design and art fervor by focusing on the personal rather than the monumental, the curious rather than the spectacular, through a curated collection of archives presented with the reverence of your family’s cabinet of curiosities. From sugar bags and UFO memorabilia to soap bars and teapots, these collections become Poem of Things where objects are invited to speak their mysterious language and unleash their odd superpowers. Together, they exist as speculative vehicles to intertwine reveries and personal narratives and underline each other’s significance and value.
Alongside these mesmerizing heirlooms, the artists’ works weave themselves into the dialogue, challenging the viewer’s interpretations and misconceptions around themes of value, fondness, and mundanity. Engaging with the collections through playful mimicry and material experimentation, the artworks echo and provoke the displayed objects, amplifying their voices and exposing the creative potential in what the broader art and design establishment often overlooks.
Completing the show is a Fiorucci-inspired soundtrack by Italian DJ Mino Luchena. He mixes his own sensitivity and reference imagery with those of the multi-hyphenated artists’ group, providing playful observations on the relationship between apparently trifling realities and suspended moments of enchantment.
