“Au-dedans de l’être, dans l’être du dedans, une chaleur accueille l’être, enveloppe l’être. L’être règne dans une sorte de paradis terrestre de la matière, fondu dans la douceur d’une matière adéquate.”¹
Over the course of the seasons, the lodge of the Pavillon d’Angivillier has progressively metamorphosed itself into a mimesis of a decadent domestic apartment. Starting with an office space, it became a living room, then morphed later into a dinning room. It will have changed a total of three times of appearance. From an autumnal ocher, to the pastel colors of awakening nature, these scenes represent passages that define a series of furniture compositions signed by the name of « Home Theatre ».
This series of exhibitions was created during a residency at the Manufacture des Gobelins in Paris. This French institution, supervised by the French Ministry of Culture, administers state furniture and has an historic role of conserving and curating a modern collection. Occupying what was previously the lodge of a residential pavilion, an abandoned and forgotten space with decrepit walls, it became the beta of a exhibition project drawing its sources from the archives and collections of the Mobilier National. Re-interpreted and re-actualized, the selected sources from all different eras and styles are staged with the goal of creating an harmonious setting. From top to bottom all the objects were handcrafted by the four artists to welcome you to delight yourself and enjoy the atmosphere of the happy domesticity.
